Lake Sarah near Rockford, Minnesota is known for it's abundant northern pike and pan-fish. There are plenty of bass to fish for too. Be prepared to fish shallow weedy green water to get at those bass. Lilly pads were very productive for me in this video.

It was a cloudy summer day in august when I fished Sarah Lake this year. I have been on this lake in prior years and spent most of my time fishing shallow water on the northern basin, so this time I wanted to spend some time fishing deeper water on the southern basin.

I started out the day fishing jigs and Carolina rigs on some of the abundant rocky underwater humps, points, and other structures. All of that turned out to be a waste of time because I was unable to catch a single fish off of any of that structure. I then moved to the shoreline where deep water came close to a rounded land point and began to fish the weed line close to shore with a spinnerbait. I finally found some fish. No matter how much I would like to catch bass on deep structure in murky lakes, I usually find myself going back to shallow water to find the fish.

After a little while (about 5 minutes into the video), I came to a large area of lily pads that I just had to try throwing a rubber frog at. That was when things really started to happen. These pads were full of active fish that were ready to blast my little frog. Usually when I use the rubber frog I end up catching about half of the fish with my backup lure, but this time they were actually getting the frog most of the time. This was a special day for fishing the rubber frog.
